Application on vehicles and special equipment
Reflective tape is widely used on trucks, trailers and vehicle combinations. Within Europe, reflective contour markings are mandatory for vehicles falling under ECE-104 regulations, significantly improving vehicle visibility and recognizability.
In addition, reflective tape is used on special vehicles such as cranes, emergency vehicles and roadside assistance vehicles. It is also applied in maritime environments, including vessels and offshore installations, to reduce risks in dark or low-visibility conditions.
Legal framework: ECE-104 contour marking
The ECE-104 regulation defines requirements for retroreflective markings on heavy and long vehicles (>3.5 tons). The purpose of this regulation is to reduce accidents by improving visibility and enabling better assessment of vehicle dimensions.
When reflective contour marking is applied, it must comply with the applicable regulations to meet legal requirements.
Application and installation
For optimal adhesion, the substrate must be clean, dry and smooth before applying reflective tape. Proper installation ensures long-term adhesion and maximum reflective performance.
