Electrically and thermally conductive tapes: performance, conductivity and reliable bonding
Electrically conductive and thermally conductive tapes provide reliable solutions for applications where electrical current transfer or heat dissipation is essential. Thanks to innovative adhesive technologies, these tapes deliver high performance, long-term reliability and increased productivity in industrial processes.
Applications in electronics and engineering
Electrically and thermally conductive tapes are widely used in:
-
Solar panels and solar collectors - for efficient heat transfer and structural bonding
-
Printed circuit boards (PCBs) - for electrical connections and thermal management
-
Control panels and sensors - for reliable mounting without soldering
-
Industrial machines and equipment - for heat dissipation and vibration damping
These tapes are commonly used in electronics, automotive and energy technology, where stability and thermal conductivity are critical.
Thermally conductive double-sided tapes
Thermally conductive tapes combine strong adhesion with high thermal conductivity. They are ideal for mounting electronic components and offer:
-
Wide temperature range (-40°C to +150°C, depending on type)
-
Good insulation and thermal spreading
-
Easy processing without welding or screw connections
-
Excellent adhesion to metal, ceramic and plastic substrates
Electrically conductive tapes
Electrically conductive tapes are used for creating electrical connections, EMI shielding (Electro Magnetic Interference) and static discharge. They combine conductive adhesives with conductive backings such as aluminium foil or copper foil tapes to achieve optimal performance in electronic applications.
Our selection of conductive tapes
Tapir Tapes supplies, among others:
-
Transfer tapes - conductive adhesive layers without a carrier
-
Thin carrier tapes - ideal for PCBs and precision applications
-
Double-sided foam tapes - for structural bonding and thermal conductivity
All types are available in standard sizes or as custom solutions, cut or die-cut to your requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between electrically conductive tape and thermally conductive tape?
Electrically conductive tape transfers electrical current and is often used for EMI shielding or grounding connections. Thermally conductive tape transfers heat and is used for thermal management of components such as PCBs or heat sinks.
Can thermally conductive tapes replace soldering?
Yes, in many applications they can replace soldering. They provide reliable bonding and thermal transfer without exposing components to high temperatures.
Are these tapes resistant to high temperatures?
Depending on the type, most conductive tapes are temperature resistant up to 150°C, and some can handle up to 200°C for short-term exposure.
Are electrically conductive tapes insulating?
No. Electrically conductive tapes conduct electricity and are therefore not insulating. If you need insulation and thermal conductivity, choose a thermally conductive but electrically insulating tape.
