When do you choose a two-component adhesive?

Two-componentare used to bond metals such as aluminum, copper, brass and steel and to structurally bond numerous plastics such as ABS, PC, PE, PMMA and PP. High strength is also obtained on glass, ceramics, wood, rubber, masonry and many other substrates. Two-component adhesives are therefore very suitable for the most demanding applications in the transport sector, the automotive industry and construction.

Properties

A two-component adhesive consists of an adhesive base and a hardener. The hardener can be an epoxy, a polyurethane or an acrylate. The glue can be applied with a spatula, but it is more efficient to use the EPX system: an application gun that doses, mixes and applies in one operation.

The glue does not harden until the two components have been mixed together. A glue bond will then be created with the following possible properties:

• Durable, strong and flexible joint
• Resistant to extreme temperatures and vibrations
• Resistant to environmental influences
• Creep resistance etc.
